What Does Team Cost Mean?

On Stygian.moe, team cost is a way to represent how much premium investment a clear uses. Generally speaking, the cost system is designed to standardize a team's investment level in order to accurately categorize how strong they are.

Cost Formula

The site calculates cost automatically from the characters and weapons in your team. Every slot can contribute character cost and weapon cost, then the total is summed and submitted with the clear.

  • Limited 5 star character: cost = constellation + 1. Ex: C2 Mavuika = 2 + 1 = 3 cost
  • Standard 5 star character: cost = (constellation + 1) x 0.5. Ex: C4 Mona = (4 + 1) x 0.5 = 2.5
  • 4 star characters = 0 cost regardless of constellations or release date
  • Limited 5 star weapon: cost = refinement.
  • Standard 5 star weapon: cost = refinement x 0.5.
  • 4 star and lower weapons are 0 regardless of refinements or release date

Character examples: limited C0 = 1, limited C2 = 3, limited C6 = 7. Standard C0 = 0.5, standard C2 = 1.5, standard C6 = 3.5.

Weapon examples: limited R1 = 1 and limited R5 = 5. Standard R1 = 0.5 and standard R5 = 2.5.

How The Breakdown Works on Stygian.moe

  • The Cost (auto) field updates immediately as you change characters, constellations, weapons, or refinements.
  • Hovering the cost chip in the submission modal shows a line-by-line breakdown for each character and weapon entry.
  • Half-step totals like 6.5 are normal because standard 5 star characters and weapons use 0.5 multipliers.
  • Empty or incomplete slots only count the parts you have actually selected.
  • That same calculated total is used for the submitted clear, public cost filters, and cost-based statistics.

Important Rule

  • Character and weapon details should be entered EXACTLY as how they appear unless a Reduced Cost tag is attached

Cost Reduction

  • Use the "Reduced Cost" tag to request for a cost reduction. Enter the intended cost instead of the actual cost. Ex: if C1 Yelan isn't used then input C0 Yelan
  • Only constellations and refinements that are generally useless, contributing less than 1 second to the clear, or is not used will be eligible for a reduction.
  • 5 star weapons with useful effects will not count for cost reduction.
  • 120s clears are not eligible for cost reduction that contributes to ANY amount of damage.
  • The availability of a character through rewards such as the Anniversary or the 5 star Selector will NOT be taken into consideration for cost reduction.
  • Standard 5 star characters will NOT be reduced to 0 cost.
  • Cost reduction is only available up until a useful constellation. Ex: C6 Mona can be reduced to C4 Mona but no further.
  • Obvious cases will be proved by the reviewer, such as reducing R2 Aquila Favonia to R1 on Bennett. However, for less obvious cases, a prior notice should be given through Discord. Otherwise, it will not go through.

FAQ

What is team cost in Genshin?

On Stygian.moe, team cost is the total premium investment value of a clear based on the characters and weapons entered in the submission.

Why do we use this cost system?

To standardize investment level across all clears. Although it is imperfect, it is universally understood. This system will continue to be used until there is a better and universal one.

What is a low cost clear?

A low cost clear is a clear with a relatively small total team cost compared to other runs. The exact threshold depends on context.

Do standard 5 star characters count as cost?

Yes. On Stygian.moe, standard 5-star characters do count, but they only count for 0.5 cost instead of 1.

Do 4 star characters or weapon count as cost?

No. 4 star characters and weapons are always 0 cost.

What does Reduced Cost mean?

Reduced Cost means a clear is allowed to be listed at a lower cost than the literal setup used, but only when the extra constellation or refinement had little to no meaningful impact and qualifies under reviewer standards.
