Boss Overview

The Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device - Lysis Shears has 8.121.748 HP for Fearless and 23.114.376 HP for Dire. The main gimmick is the Adaptive Countermeasures: Cold Start.

Lysis Shears Overview Information

The boss begins the fight protected by a strong shield and gains high All Elemental RES and Physical RES. You must counter the mechanic using characters in Nightsoul’s Blessing to fill up the bar and stun the boss.

Mechanics

Cold Start

At the start of the fight, the Secret Source Automaton has a 200% max HP shield and very high resistance. In this state, the boss naturally accumulate Adaptive Countermeasures at a very slow rate. Characters in Nightsoul’s Blessing are the key because they will fill up the bar much faster. The more Nightsoul characters you bring, the faster the bar will fill up but you should prioritize bringing at least one.

Adaptive Countermeasures

Once the boss has built enough Adaptive Countermeasures progress, it will take 50% of all the DMG dealt during the Cold Start and begin to perform a laser sequence and then begins charging its Boltsphere Cannon. Its resistance will return to normal and you have a small damage window before the next phase.

Solid Phlogiston Pillars

When the boss charges the Boltsphere Cannon, it summons two Accretion Mechanisms on top of Solid Phlogiston pillars. These devices are protected from ranged attacks, so you cannot simply shoot them from the ground. You need to climb or fly up to destroy them from close range.

If you destroy both, the boss:

  • Takes 15% of its max HP as damage.
  • Becomes paralyzed for around 15 seconds.
  • Has its All RES reduced to -30%, making this the best damage window of the fight.

If you fail to destroy them in time, the boss completes Boltsphere Cannon and releases a large Electro AoE.

Lysis Shears putting up pillar

Best pillar solutions:

  • Kachina: very good budget option because she can enter Nightsoul and climb the pillars.
  • Xilonen: excellent because she gives support value and can climb quickly.
  • Kazuha, Venti, Wanderer, Chasca, Kinich, and other vertical-mobility units: can help reach the devices if you lack the intended Natlan climbers.
  • Alternatively you can learn the specific locations to climb up the pillar without these units.

Best Teams

Nightsoul Carry Teams

These are the most comfortable teams because the main DPS or core units naturally help solve Cold Start.

Mavuika overload is the best in slot team to deal with this boss because there are 3 natlan characters naturally in the team.

Citlali C0 Citlali R5 TTDS

These are not the ideal option because these teams naturally don't use a Nightsoul character so you won't have the optimal team. The exception is Skirk when she can fit Citlali into her team but all the teams still require vertical investment to clear Dire comfortably.

Required DPS

Baseline DPS

Assuming a 120s timer, the raw baseline DPS requirement is:

  • Fearless: 67,681 DPS
  • Dire: 192,619 DPS

This is only a theoretical baseline. It does not account for shield downtime, movement, boss animations, rotation setup, or the fact that Stygian Onslaught starts characters at zero energy.

Actual DPS

The actual DPS check can roughly understood with this formula:

Actual DPS = Required damage / DPS window

Where:

  • Actual required damage = Boss HP − damage gain during stunned phase - damage from backlash
  • DPS window = 120s - time in shield phase

The -30% RES window makes your damage much stronger, so if you utilize this well then every team will have a slightly lower DPS requirement. The actual DPS requirement depends heavily on the number of Nightsoul characters in your team. If you have only 1 nightsoul character, then the required DPS is most likely way above the baseline while every additional nightsoul character will heavily decrease that number.
