Lord of the Hidden Depths: Ravager's Edge Guide

Lord of the Hidden Depths: Whisperer of Nightmares - Ravager’s Edge is one of the harder Stygian bosses. The boss itself is not mechanically complex, but the fight becomes strict because the shield phase can waste a large part of the timer if your team does not have enough Lunar Reaction damage, or AoE control.

Boss Overview

Hidden Depths Ravager has 12,437,830 HP for Fearless and 23,658,108 HP for Dire. Its main mechanic is the Deepdark Shield, equaling to 45% of its Max HP, that it creates shortly after the start of the battle.

Abyss Dog Resistance and HP

You must have a way to deal with the shield through the various methods that will be provided in the guide. If not then the boss will waste too much time and one shot your active character.

Mechanic

Deepdark Shield

This is the core mechanic of the boss where it will summon a shield, and four Fishers of Hidden Depths. In Stygian Onslaught, the charging time is extended to 36 seconds.

The shield has three important properties:

  • It is equal to 45% of the boss’s Max HP.
  • It can not be damaged by Physical attacks.
  • Lunar Reaction damage dealt to the shield is multiplied by 3 while giving a massive amount of white particles.

This means Lunar teams do not just “help”, they actually allow the shield breaking to be possible.

What Happens When You Break the Shield

  • The boss loses 20% Max HP.
  • The boss becomes stunned for roughly 15s.
  • Remaining Fishers are immediately defeated.
  • The boss’s RES drops to -60% all RES.

This is when your main DPS rotation should happen. Do not waste your biggest burst setup right before the shield unless your team needs it specifically to trigger Lunar damage.

What Happens If You Fail the Shield Check

If the Deepdark Shield is not depleted before the charge finishes, the boss consumes the remaining Fishers and performs a large arena-wide Electro attack. In practice, failing this mechanic usually means the run is dead because you lose too much time and.

Fishers of Hidden Depths

During the shield phase, the boss summons four Fishers, and they have the following properties:

  • Each has 18% of the boss’s HP
  • Every Fisher defeated removes 25% of the boss’s shield. Killing all four fully removes the shield even if you don't the boss directly.
  • They can be grouped and take fall damage.
  • They can be pushed by running directly into them.

For non-Lunar teams, these Fishers are the only ways to deal with the shield. For teams that don't have great grouping, you can actually push the Fishers to lower the needed DPS on the main body. More details on this in the Tips and Tricks section.

Best Teams

Lunar Teams

Lunar-Charged is the best archetypes to deal with the boss because it allows you to basically ignore the shield mechanic and hit the main body for even less damage. While also refunding you 36 energy. Basically all 3 Lunar carries can perfectly deal with the boss, even at Dire difficulty if you have the premium team.

Bruteforce Teams

Unfortunately there aren't that many ways to deal with this boss if you don't have a Lunar team. To bruteforce this boss requires you to have the best teams. Ideally your team can bring an anemo unit to group the Fisher, or have good enough AoE like Skirk.

Required DPS

Baseline DPS

Assuming a 120s timer, the raw baseline DPS requirement is:

  • Fearless: 103,649 DPS
  • Dire: 197,151 DPS

This is only a theoretical baseline. It does not account for shield downtime, movement, boss animations, rotation setup, or the fact that Stygian Onslaught starts characters at zero energy.

Actual DPS

The actual DPS check is best understood with this formula:

Actual DPS = Required damage / DPS window

Where:

  • Actual required damage = Boss HP − damage gain during stunned phase - damage gain during shield phase
  • DPS window = 120s - stall animations

The -60% RES window makes your damage much stronger, so if you utilize this well then every team will have a slightly lower DPS requirement. For Lunar teams, they get the added benefit during the shield phase as they only need to deal with 15% HP while damaging the boss for 18% HP. Other teams will have to deal with the Fishers at 20% with grouping, and even higher if they don't manage to group all of it. So expect Lunar teams to have a much lower DPS requirement than the baseline while other teams will unfortunately need more.

Fight Strategy

Opening Phase

Use the first couple seconds to battery your characters before the boss put up its shield.

Shield Phase

When the boss teleports and summons the Fishers, immediately decide which plan you are using.

Plan A: Direct shield break

Use this if you have a lunar team. Hit the boss’s shield directly with lunar reactions to collect the energy refund, and break the shield as quickly as possible.

Plan B: Fisher clear

Use this if your team has strong AoE or grouping. Pull the Fishers together with Venti, Sucrose, Kazuha. Each Fisher killed removes 25% of the shield, so killing all four fully breaks the shield.

Plan C: Hybrid

This is often the best non-whale approach. Push one or two of the Fishers toward the main body and damage everything with AoE, this essentially lower your DPS requirement of 40% max HP to 20-30%, depending on the number of Fishers killed.

Weakened Phase

Once the shield breaks, the boss takes 20% Max HP damage and enters its best DPS window for roughly 15s. Because the boss drops to -60% all RES, prioritize setting up your main DPS to frontload their damage in this time.

Tips and Tricks

  • Trigger Lunar damage on the shield. The 36 energy refund helps solve the zero-energy start and lets Lunar team starts its first rotation quickly.
  • Save your biggest burst for the weakened state. The -60% RES window is where most of the clear should happen.
  • Near the beginning, the Fishers don't have high interuption resistance. With proper timing and positioning, you can use Overload to push one Angler towards the main body.

  • Use CC if you are not playing Lunar. Venti and Sucrose are specifically useful because the Fishers can even take fall DMG.
  • Push the Fishers closer to the boss or one another to DPS them down with AoE. This is especially useful for Skirk and certain Mavuika teams.

Character-Specific Tech

Sucrose/Kazuha

If done correctly, both Sucrose and Kazuha can deal massive fall damage to the Fisher, lowering the required DPS.

Mavuika

Mavuika is a brute-force option where she relies on using an anemo unit or pushing 1 of the Fishers into the boss to lower the DPS requirement.

Skirk

Skirk much like Mavuika can deal with the Fishers if you push it. In certain positions, Skirk can even hit all 4 Fishers but it requires higher investment to actually clear the boss this way.
